Global existence of smooth solutions to relativistic string equations in Schwarzschild spacetime for small initial data

Abstract: I will give a talk about the motion of relativistic strings in Schwarzschild spacetime. The equations are shown to form a totally linearly degenerate system of one-order hyperbolic equations in (1+1)dimensions. Based on this observation and under suitable assumptions, He-Huang and Kong(JHDE,2016) proved the global existence of smooth solutions to the Cauchy problem for the equations of relativistic strings (in Schwarzschild spacetime) with sufficiently small arc length.
